In 2019 I married the current CCOMM Ken Matthews and that’s how I came across Everyman’s Welfare Service. We attend Parkland Christian Chapel in Wodonga.
Prior to marrying Ken, I began doing a volunteer role in the National Headquarters at Gaza Ridge, Bandiana. My title is Community Support Volunteer. This involves me keeping the database up to date and contacting our supporters to thank them for financial and prayer support. It’s great to be able to make contact with our wonderful supporters.
I also have baked many Anzac biscuits for our centres in Wodonga and for the troops on exercise.
In 2020, during the bushfires, I had the humbling experience of making espresso coffees for the fire evacuation victims, at the Latchford Barracks Centre. It was such a heartbreaking time for many people in the North East of Victoria who were displaced or evacuated. It was a honour to support these people and provide small donations to help them out. A small way to let our light shine.
Ken and I have 5 adult children between us aged from 27-34 years, and 3 grandchildren, aged between 6 months and 9,who keep us busy and entertained.
Up until 2010 I was a Primary School teacher in the area and then from 2013 until January this year I worked in cafes between Wodonga and Albury. Now I just fill in casually cleaning an Airbnb.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, Pilates reading and cooking. And of course holidays.
